Can’t stand the sound of nails on a chalkboard? How about chewing with your mouth open? A new poll broke down the top ten sounds we love to hear and the ten we hate.

 

 

 

 

Here are the ten sounds we hate the most :

 

  1. Nails on a chalkboard.  79% find it “somewhat” or “very” irritating.

 

  1. Chewing with your mouth open, 76%.

 

  1. Loud talking, 74%.

 

  1. When someone smacks their gum, 68%.

 

  1. Snoring, 67%.

 

  1. Slurping, 64%.

 

  1. FARTING, also 64%.

 

  1. Burping, 58%.

 

  1. Teeth-grinding, 55%.

 

  1. When someoneclicks their tongue really loud, 54%.

 

 

 

 

Here are the ten most relaxing sounds:

 

 

  1. Rain, 80%.

 

  1. Singing, 57%.  I assume they mean GOOD singing.

 

  1. A baby laughing, 55%.

 

  1. Water droplets, 50%.

 

  1. A ticking clock, 36%.

 

  1. A car engine humming, 33%.

 

  1. A person humming, 33%.

 

  1. Laughter in general, 30%.

 

  1. Pages turning in a book, 29%.
