Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • Strathroy – Komoka – Western Middlesex County

A cluster of thunderstorms is moving through Southwestern Ontario late this afternoon into this evening producing torrential downpours, strong wind gusts, and frequent lightning. Local rainfall amounts of 50 to 75 mm are possible. There has been reports of estimated wind gusts up to 100 km/h.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:

  • London – Parkhill – Eastern Middlesex County
  • Strathroy – Komoka – Western Middlesex County

Thunderstorms tracking through Southwestern Ontario late this afternoon into this evening may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and torrential downpours totaling 50 mm in an hour or less.

Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
