Tomorrow is “World No Tobacco Day” and Southwestern Public Health is using the day as a kick-off to a month long campaign to get people to quite smoking.
The “My Last Cigarette” campaign will run the month of June and feature radio and on-line ads along with in-person events to help provide support and resources to encourage people to butt-out. Weather permitting, an in-person event is being held at 502 Talbot Street in St. Thomas tomorrow from 11am to 2pm.
Stats show there is higher proportion of adults who smoke in the area serviced by Southwestern Public Health, compared to the rest of the province. Smoking kills more than 13,000 Ontarians every year.
