Today is International women’s day where we we celebrate and empower females across the world.

We have and have had so many incredible women throughout history who have inspired generations of young girls and, gotten us to where we are now.

Here are a few of the most powerful and inspirational women:

 

TESSA VIRTUE

One half of Canada’s sweethearts, Tessa is known around the world for ice dancing skills with partner Scott Moir. The pair have won award after award, gold medal after gold medal and inspired a generation of young ice dancers across the world with their chemistry and skills.

Tessa continues to inspire, as she is an ambassador for both Adidas and Nivea AND, will have her very own Barbie this year as part of their “Role Model” series to empower young girls.

 

JANE GOODALL

At just 26 years old, Jane would take her first steps in what is now known as the Gombe Stream National Park, to study wild chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Thanks to her research we know more about chimps and monkeys then ever!

Jane continues her research to this day with the Jane Goodall Institution, protecting wildlife and empowering others to do the same!

 

MALALA YOUSAFZA

October 2012, Malala was shot on the left side of her head by a masked man and would not wake up for the next 10 days. Malala would survive and move with her family to the U.K, where she would establish the Malala Fund, a charity dedicated to giving every girl an opportunity to achieve a future she chooses.

In 2014, she would be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, and to this day she continues her efforts to make sure women are able to receive education.

 

MARIE CURIE

If you’re looking for inspiration in the science and research field, Marie Curie is your girl!
After her husband passed, Marie would take his position as Professor of  General Physics in the Science Faculty, the first time a women has ever done that!

Curie’s research on Radium would be ground-breaking, and win her numerous awards including a Nobel award along with being published in many science articles and journals.

 

OPRAH WINFREY

She is the biggest  talk show host of all time! Oprah has captured the attention of millions over the years with her hard-hitting questions and content on her televised ‘Oprah Winfrey Show”.
Oprah had a tough upbringing and suffered from poverty and hardships…but through those painful years, she never let her strength and courage waiver and with hard work and dedication is now one of the richest and most influential women in the world!
