The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is recalling a brand of smoked fish over concerns it may be contaminated with botulism.
The recall affects Boffo’s brand Applewood Smoked Rainbow Trout sold exclusively in Ontario up to and including February 27th.
Symptoms of botulism include facial paralysis or loss of facial expression, nonreactive or fixed pupils, difficulty swallowing, drooping eyelids, blurred or double vision and slurred or difficulty speaking. It can be fatal in extreme cases and is more serious in children.
So far no illnesses have been reported.
