An improperly discarded joint is being blamed for a fire in a Western University dorm room.
London Fire was called to the O’Neil Residence early this morning after a student tried to dispose of the joint in a recycling bin near a bed. The bin, naturally, caught fire.
Fire officials say the smoke alarm in the room had been covered with a plastic bag to prevent the doobie from setting it off.
No one was hurt, damage is pegged at $2,000.
Officials say covering the smoke detector could have had fatal results and always make sure your smoking materials are properly put out.
