A new plan has been introduced to prevent, reduce and eliminate deadly substance abuse in the Forest City.

London and Middlesex, like many communities throughout Ontario are experiencing an influx of alcohol and substance abuse.

Between 2016 and 2017 there were 30 reported deaths related to opioid use in Middlesex-London.

The new Middlesex London Community Drug and Alcohol Strategy lays out 23 recommendations that will advocate for policies and programs that address homelessness and poverty, enhance community awareness of area services, create better access to treatment, expand harm reduction services and much more.

The implementation will be brought in over the next three years.
