Canadian Union of Postal Workers president Mike Palecek issued a warning to union members last month, saying they should be prepared for “some type of job action” if contract talks fail.
Yesterday workers voted on whether or not the give their union a strike mandate and results of the vote could be known as early as today.
If they voted in favour, there could be a strike or lockout by September 26th.
A pay equity dispute involving the carriers’ eight-thousand rural and 42-thousand urban workers has been at the heart of the negotiations.
